About the study

How does ageing affect our sense of touch? This study follows touch from basic tactile sensitivity to recognising the geometric shape of objects by hand in younger and older adults.

Understanding where and how touch changes with age can help inform the age-appropriate design of everyday objects.

What we measure

Touch detection

Grating orientation resolution

Curvature and width perception

2D shape discrimination

3D object shape discrimination
