Human perception relies on integrating information from multiple senses, shaped by higher cognitive processes. This project aims to uncover how the brain organises multisensory inputs into conceptual knowledge that allows us to recognise familiar objects and acquire information to recognise new objects.
Our approach is to investigate the emergence of multisensory object categories in both children and adults, complemented by insights from neuroimaging to further investigate the neural underpinnings of these processes.
